The second Compounding World Expo in Essen was again organized by AMI and took place on September 29 and 30, 2021. It was held at the same time and at the same location as the Plastics Recycling World Expo, the Plastics Extrusion World Expo and the Polymer Testing World Expo.
The exhibition was a good opportunity to actually be „on site“ again, and the numbers confirmed the regained confidence in personal meetings and the opportunity to expand or maintain business contacts.
This year's event recorded an 18% increase in exhibitor numbers compared to last time, and saw the presence of European exhibitors and visitors alike, with overseas visitors limited due to COVID-19 travel restrictions. More than 50% of visitors came from outside Germany.
The two days were filled with seminars, technical presentations and conversations, attended with the highest interest. Topics ranged from discussions on the future of technical compounds, to recycling and upcycling solutions for compounding extruders, to measurement and knowledge of extruder wear.
It was interesting to note that many Italian OEMs participated both in the exhibition in Essen and in the Packaging & Recycling conference in Arese (which took place at the same time). All the major Italian companies were present: Maris, Icma, Comac, Fimic, Filtec, Bandera as well as several well-known companies such as Sirmax, Mepol and Benvic.
One of the leitmotifs was the Green Economy and one of the most discussed topics was recycling.
